Apple notarization

Apple notarization is a security process introduced by Apple for macOS and macOS-related software distributed outside of the Mac App Store. It is a mandatory step for all software built after June 1, 2019, and distributed with Developer ID, beginning in macOS 10.15. Notarization aims to enhance the security of macOS by ensuring that all software distributed outside of the Mac App Store is checked for malicious content and conforms to Apple's security standards before being installed on users' devices.

DigiCert® Software Trust Manager simplifies the Apple notarization process by enabling you to notarize your Apple binaries with Signing Manager Controller (SMCTL), a command line interface (CLI).
