Avoid common mistakes with HTTP practical demonstration

The following items are required to validate a domain using the HTTP Practical Demonstration or HTTP Practical Demonstration with unique filename DCV methods:

  1. A DigiCert-generated random value, which is applicable to both methods

  2. A DigiCert-generated unique filename, which is applicable to HTTP Practical Demonstration with a unique filename

  3. The correct location to place the .txt file on your website, which is applicable to both methods:

The URL serves two purposes. It contains the FQDN or IP address to validate and specifies the location of the .txt file containing the DigiCert-generated random value.

Place the file on the correct domain to avoid the most common HTTP Practical Demonstration configuration error
