CertCentral: Delete and deactivate domains

In CertCentral, use the Delete domain and Deactivate domain features to manage the domains in your account.

Deleting a domain

Need to remove a domain with a typo, or once a base domain is validated, do you want to remove its subdomains from your Domains page?

The Delete domain feature allows you to remove a domain from your account and, subsequently, hides it from the list of domains.

Items to note about the Delete domain feature:

  • It does not affect existing certificates that include the deleted domain.

  • It does not prevent you from re-adding the deleted domain to your account and getting a certificate for it.

  • Requesting new, reissue, or renewal certificates for a deleted domain may require you to revalidate the domain.

See Delete domains in your CertCentral account.

Deactivating a domain

Don’t want your CertCentral users requesting certificates for a domain?

The Deactivate domain feature allows you to block certificate issuance for a domain in your account.

Items to note about the Deactivate domain feature:

  • The domain remains in your account.

  • It does not affect existing certificates that include the deactivated domain.

  • It does not affect completed domain control validation (DCV) checks for the domain.

  • You can only get a new certificate for that domain, including duplicates and reissues, if you reactivate it.

See Deactivate domains in your CertCentral account.
