Validate domains and perform validation checks

Use the topics in this section to complete domain control validation for certificate orders and manage DNS CAA records that control which certificate authorities can issue certificates for your domains.

Before completing domain validation from a certificate order, confirm you have selected a DCV method on the order. For detailed procedures for each DCV method, see Perform domain control validation (DCV).

Validating your domains for the first time: Learn which domains require validation and choose the most efficient domain control validation method. See Perform domain control validation (DCV).

Completing organization validation: Prepare your organization details, verification contacts, and documentation for OV and EV certificates. Confirm the organization is active and validation is current before submitting certificate requests.

Automating validation: Use DNS integrations or ACME methods to streamline ongoing domain control validation. See Automate certificate lifecycle and Automate domain validation and reuse.

Troubleshooting validation delays: Identify and resolve issues with domain control validation, organization validation, or verification contacts. See Perform domain control validation (DCV) for common configuration issues.

Revalidating domains or organizations: Stay ahead of revalidation timelines to avoid certificate issuance delays. Domain validation reuse is limited to the allowed reuse period. Organization validation reuse for OV certificates is limited to the allowed reuse period.
