Edit a certificate profile

After you create a certificate profile, you can update it as needed to meet the needs of your IoT device deployment.

Warning

Changing the contents of a certificate profile affects all enrollment profiles, certificate requests, and certificate renewals that rely on the certificate profile.

  1. In DigiCert ONE®, in the Manager menu (top right), select DigiCert® IoT Trust Manager.

  2. In the DigiCert® IoT Trust Manager menu, select Certificates > Certificate profiles.

  3. On the Certificate profiles page, locate the profile and select ellipses > Edit.

  4. On the Edit certificate profile page, you can update the profile name.

This name is how you identify the profile on the Certificate profiles page and in the forms where a certificate profile is required, such as on the Create enrollment profile page.

    Notice

You cannot use a different certificate template when cloning or editing a certificate profile.

  5. Update the profile entries as needed.

    • Enabled/required entries

When an entry is enabled and required, you cannot disable it or make it optional.

    • Some entries require user interaction

When an entry is enabled/required, you may be able to update a value or select a different option.

For example, in the template, the Common name is required. You have three options. You can check a different option.

    • Disable entries

When an entry is disabled, you don't need to include it in your certificate profile.

    • Enable an entry

When an entry is disabled, you may be able to enable it. After you enable it, you can leave it as optional or make it required.

To make the entry required, slide the Required toggle switch. You may also need to provide a value or select an option before updating the certificate profile.

For example, in the template, you enable the Organization name. You have three options. You must check at least one of the options to proceed.

  6. When done, select Update.

You can now use the updated certificate profile when creating enrollment profiles for your devices. The updated certificate profile will appear on the Certificate enrollment profile page.
