Managed subaccounts are specifically intended for automating access and interaction with the DigiCert API. Managed subaccounts create a CertCentral account for your user, but unlike the other three types of subaccounts, do not provide a way to access the CertCentral UI.
The primary use case for managed subaccounts are resellers who have their own user portal which will connect to the managed subaccount via API integration, or a similar system. The 'parent' account can still configure the subaccount's pricing, product availability, contact info from within the Parent's subaccount management page in CertCentral.
Managed subaccounts can only be created through DigiCert's API. Contact your account manager to have managed subacccounts enabled. Once enabled, use these instructions to create a managed subaccount.
