Download a code signing certificate

Download your Code Signing/EV Code Signing certificate.

After DigiCert issues your certificate, you can download a copy of your EV code signing or code signing certificate from your CertCentral account.

CertCentral changes for new private key storage requirements

Starting June 1, 2023, industry standards require private keys for Code Signing certificates to be stored on hardware certified as FIPS 140-2 level 2, Common Criteria EAL 4+, or equivalent.

Download a certificate

  1. In your CertCentral account, in the left main menu, go to Certificate > Orders.

  2. On the Orders page, select the Order # of the code signing/EV code signing certificate you want to download.

  3. On the Order details page in the Download Certificate As dropdown, select the certificate format you want to use:

    • Best format for Other FIPS 140-2 Level 2 Devices

      Use this option to download the certificate in the format recommended for FIPS 140-2 Level 2 HSMs.

    • Best format for Sun Java

      Use this option to download the certificate in the format recommended for the Sun Java platform.

    • .crt (best for Apache/Linux)

      Use this option to download the certificate in a .crt format, best for Apache and Linux platforms.

    • .p7b (best for Microsoft and Java)

      Use this option to download the certificate in a .p7b format best for Microsoft and Java platforms.

  4. In the Download CertificateAs dropdown, select More Options to see more Server Platform and File Type options or to download the Certificate, the Intermediate Certificate, and the Root Certificate.

  5. Download a combined certificate file.

    In the Download Certificate window, under Combined Certificate Files, use any of these options to download the combined code signing certificate file.

    • Platform-specific

      In the Server Platform dropdown, select the platform or device on which you are installing the certificate and then select Download.

    • File type specific

      In the File Type dropdown, select the file format you want to download the certificate in. Then select Download.

  6. Download a specific certificate in the certificate chain.

    In the Download Certificate window, under Individual Certificate Files, use one of these any of these options to download an individual certificate file:

    • Certificate file

      To download a copy of the code signing certificate only, under Certificate, select the Download link.

    • Intermediate certificate file

      To download a copy of the intermediate certificate in your code signing certificate chain, under Intermediate Certificate, select the Download link.

    • Root certificate file

      To download a copy of the root certificate in your code signing certificate chain, under Root Certificate, select the Download link.
