Configure your DigiCert Smart Seal

DigiCert Secure Site Pro and Secure Site TLS/SSL certificates come with the most recognized trust marks on the web, the DigiCert Smart Seal. Use this premium site seal to display proof of trust on your site. The site seal is available in your CertCentral account.

Important

Displaying the Norton site seal on your website?

On October 17, 2023, DigiCert will replace the Norton site seal image with our DigiCert site seal image wherever it appears on websites secured by Secure Site or Secure Site Pro TLS certificates.

Contact your account manager or DigiCert Support if you have questions or concerns about the Norton seal.

Note

DigiCert Smart Seal does not set or use cookies of any kind.

Before you begin

Make sure DigiCert has issued your certificate and you have the certificate's order number. Site seals are tied to the issued certificate order. You can access the site seal only from your issued certificate's Order # details page.

Previewing site seal and information page changes

Site seal and information page changes may take up to two hours to appear on your website. DigiCert recommends using the preview feature on the Site seal page to preview your modifications rather than waiting for them to appear on your website.

Company logos

The DigiCert Smart Seal lets you add your company logo to the site seal. Before you upload your company logo, make sure it is formatted correctly:

  • File format must be SVG Tiny Portable/Secure file.

Learn how to render this file type.

  • The image should have a square aspect ratio (1:1).

  • Use non-transparent backgrounds.

  • Center the image.

A centered image displays optimally in a circle.

DigiCert must approve company logos

Upload your company logo to your certificate order. Preview it in your site seal's hover-over effect and animation to see how it will appear. Then save your site seal configuration.

However, DigiCert must approve your company logo before it appears in the DigiCert Smart Seal on your website.

Your company logo must:

  • Accurately represent the organization as listed on the certificate.

  • Not contain obscene or pornographic images.

  • Not contain profanity or offensive language.

The Smart Seal animation works without your logo. Once approved, the Smart Seal on your website updates automatically to include your logo.

Site seal information page

When you interact with the DigiCert Smart Seal, you see details about the domain, the organization, the TLS/SSL certificate, and the validation.

Secure Site and Secure Site Pro certificates allow you to add information to the site seal information page. This additional information enables site visitors to see the steps you are taking to ensure your website is secure:

  • Blocklist check

  • Whether your CT log monitoring is enabled

  • Malware scan date

  • PCI compliance scan date

  • How long you've been a DigiCert customer

CT Log monitoring

CT log monitoring is only available for Secure Site Pro certificates. Before adding CT log monitoring to your site seal's information page, you must enable CT log monitoring for your certificate order.

PCI compliance scan

PCI compliance scan is only available for Secure Site Pro and Secure Site EV certificates. Before you can add the PCI compliance scan to your site seal's information page, you must enable the Vulnerability assessment service for your certificate order.

Configure your DigiCert Smart Seal

The DigiCert Smart Seal allows you to choose the seal size, enable a hover effect, enable animation, add your company logo, and configure the site seal information page.

  1. In your CertCentral account, in the left main menu, go to Certificates > Orders.

  2. On the Orders page, in the Order # column, select the certificate's order number link.

  3. On the Order # details page, select Site Seal.

  4. Size

In the Configure the seal section under Size, select your site seal size: small, medium, or large.

Use the Preview feature to review all Smart Seal animation changes before applying them to your website.

    1. Add a hover effect to your site seal*

To animate the site seal, check Enable. When visitors visit your site, the seal will slowly evolve between the seal and the additional details.

    3. Add your company logo to the site seal

To add your company logo to your site seal, check Enable. Then, select Upload logo.

  6. Site seal information page

Secure Site and Secure Site Pro certificates allow you to add information to the site seal information page. To Preview your changes, you must first select Save changes. If you don't, the preview will not show your recent changes.

    1. Malware scan

To add the date of the most recently completed malware scan, check Enable. Site visitors can see that you monitor your website for viruses and malware.

    2. CT log monitoring

To add the date of the most recently completed blocklist check, check Enable. Site visitors can see your business is clear from government and country-specific blocklists.

    4. PCI compliance scan

    5. Verified customer

To display how long you've been a DigiCert customer, check Enable. Site visitors can see how long you've used one of the most trusted names in TLS/SSL certificates to protect your sites.

  7. When you are ready, select Save configuration.

What's next

Use the options in the Do you need to install your site seal? section to get the site seal code to share with those putting the site seal on your website. When you email the code, we send all the code to you (HTML and JavaScript).

Items to note:

  • Site seal modifications may take up to two hours to appear on your website.

  • The site seal code only works on domains included on the TLS/SSL certificate order.

  • When you add or replace an existing logo, remember that DigiCert must approve your company logo before it appears in the site seal on your website.

    Note

You don't need to wait for logo approval to install the site seal code on your website. Your logo will appear in the site seal on your website when it is approved.

  • If you installed the site seal code on your site and modified the hover effect, you need to reinstall the site seal code.
