By default, CertCentral accounts are configured for one-step certificate request approvals. An account admin must approve a certificate request before DigiCert can start processing the order (validating the organization, etc.). However, you can remove the approval step from the OV/EV SSL certificates issuance workflows for your CertCentral administrators, managers, and finance managers.
A verified contact (designated EV approver) may still need to approve administrator and manager, EV SSL certificate requests. To remove the approval step from the EV SSL certificate issuance workflow, admins and managers must also be designated as an EV approver (verified contact).
Administrators must still approve certificate revocations, Guest URL certificate requests, and Standard and Limited Users certificate requests.
When you remove the approval step, orders that don’t require an administrator approval are submitted directly to DigiCert for certificate issuance. These orders won't be listed on the Requests page (Certificates > Requests). Instead, they will be listed on the Orders page (Certificate > Orders) with one of the following statuses:
In your CertCentral account, in the left main menu, go to Settings > Preferences.
On the Division Preferences page, scroll down and expand Advanced Settings.
In the Certificate Requests section, under Approval Steps, select Skip approval step: remove the approval step from your certificate order processes.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Settings.
You've removed the approval step from the OV/EV SSL certificate issuance workflows for your CertCentral administrators and managers. The next time they order an OV SSL certificate, their order will automatically be submitted to DigiCert to process. If the domain and organization validations have been completed, we will issue the certificate immediately.
If the admin or manager is not a verified contact (designated EV approver), a designated EV approver will still need to approve their EV SSL certificate requests.
To remove the approval step from the EV SSL certificate issuance workflow, admins and managers must also be designated as an EV approver (verified contact).
