Domain prevalidation: Revalidate your domain before validation expires

For immediate certificate issuance, keep your domain's validation current

To maintain seamless certificate issuance, don’t wait for your domain's validation to expire before you revalidate it by completing the domain control validation (DCV).

Industry standards for OV validation are changing: From September 27, 2021, the domain validation reuse period is reduced from 825 days to 397 days. To maintain service without disruption, revalidate your domains before September 27, 2021.

For EV validation, you must revalidate the domain every 13 months. However, the DCV requirements for OV and EV domain validation are identical.

You can revalidate a domain at any time. This domain management feature enables you to complete the domain’s validation early so that your immediate certificate issuance process continues without interruption.

If you order a certificate for a domain while the domain's revalidation is in a pending state, we use the domain's current validation to issue the certificate.

Submit domain for revalidation

  1. In your CertCentral account, in the left main menu, go to Certificates > Domains.

  1. On the Domains page, click the Domain Name of the domain you want to "revalidate".

  1. On the Domain details page, in the Domain Validation section, under Submit for validation, check OV certificate validation or EV certificate validation.

After you validate the domain, both OV and EV certificate validations will show new expiration dates.

  1. In the Domain Control Validation (DCV) Method section, select the method you want to use to demonstrate control over the domain:

    • Verification Email
    • DNS TXT Record
