Review domain validation expiration dates with the reduced 199-day validity

Currently, you can reuse domain validations for 397 days. Starting February 24, 2026, DigiCert will shorten your domain validation reuse period to 199 days to align with industry changes. This change is retroactive and affects domains validated before and beginning February 24, 2026.

To learn more about the shortening domain validation reuse period from 397 days to 199 days, read our article, Domain validation reuse changes in 2026.

To review the new domain validation reuse expiration dates, use one of the options detailed in this article:

Before you begin

On the Domains page in CertCentral, we added a new Validation expires SC-081 column next to the Validation expires column. This new column lets you compare the original and new expiration dates and determine when domain revalidation is needed, per the changes coming February 24, 2026.

  • For domains validated on or before August 9, 2025, their domain validations will expire immediately on February 24, 2026.

Note: Your domain validation reuse expiration dates may vary. Because of the move to the 199-day reuse period, these domains will expire before or on February 24, 2026.

  • For domains validated on or after August 10, 2025, these domain validations will remain valid through February 24, 2026, but will expire earlier than the original 397-day reuse period.

Option 1: Review domains' 199-day expiration dates on the Domains page

  4. Take note of the domain validations expiring on or soon after February 24, 2026. If you rely on immediate certificate issuance, you should revalidate these domains before February 24.
