Discovery tools

Discovery is a core feature of DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager that's built into the same tools used to automate certificate lifecycle management.

Trust Lifecycle Manager adds cryptographic assets it discovers to your inventory and calculates security ratings for them so you can identify and address vulnerabilities on your systems.

Agent-based discovery

DigiCert agents are lightweight client tools that you install onto host systems such as web servers to discover and automate certificates on them.

  • Agents automatically discover certificates for the web server applications they manage.

  • Agents can also be used to run system scans, which find a range of cryptographic assets throughout the local host's file system and operating system as a whole.

Sensor-based discovery

DigiCert sensors are gateway applications used to integrate network systems and discover and automate certificates on them. You typically install a single sensor onto a dedicated host on your network, although more complex networks may require more than one sensor.

  • Sensors automatically discover certificates on the network appliances and cloud services they manage.

  • Sensors can also be used to run network scans, which find certificates and calculate security ratings for network hosts by IP address or hostname and port.
