Renew a CA

Renew a CA in DigiCert® Private CA before its certificate expires so it can keep issuing. Which renewal action you use depends on where the CA is recertified:

  • The CA is recertified in DigiCert Private CA. Use Recertify a CA. Private CA creates the new CA for you.

  • The CA was recertified outside DigiCert Private CA, for example by an external or legacy CA process. Use Replace a CA certificate to upload the resulting certificate.

Tip

Renew a CA well before it expires, so you have time to distribute the new certificate to trust stores and confirm issuance before the original certificate expires.
