Configure certificate lifecycle email settings

Set the language preference for your certificate lifecycle emails, and configure who receives these emails.

Before you begin

Certificate lifecycle email language setting

When you go to the Notifications page in CertCentral, use the Email Language dropdown to set the certificate lifecycle email language for the entire account.

For example, if you set the email language to Italian, all certificate lifecycle emails will be in Italian regardless of the individual account language setting.

The Email Language option only changes the language used in the certificate lifecycle emails. It does not change the language used in an individual account. On the Profile Settings page, use the Language dropdown to set the language for your account. See CertCentral language preferences.

Certificate lifecycle email settings

By default, DigiCert sends certificate order emails, referred to as certificate lifecycle emails, to the user requesting the certificate. You can modify the certificate lifecycle default settings and send certificate lifecycle emails to the organization and/or technical contact. You can also remove the certificate requestor from the flow.

These settings apply only to the certificate requestor, organization contact, and technical contacts. The primary CertCentral administrator (the individual who created the account), email addresses assigned to receive all account notifications, and additional email addresses added to the order still receive the certificate lifecycle emails.

We send the certificate requestor these certificate lifecycle emails:

  • Certificate issued emails
We send certificate issued emails for new, renew, reissue, and duplicate orders. By default, we include a copy of the certificate.
  • Renewal notifications
By default, we send renewal notifications 90, 60, 30, 7, and 3 days before certificate expires and 7 days after certificate expires.
  • Organization approval email*
This only applies to request where a new, yet to be validated organization is included in the request.

*When the requestor is an admin or an organization contact, we send an email letting them know DigiCert has validated the organization, and they can now get certificates for it.

What's next

Going forward, CertCentral will use the updated certificate lifecycle email settings to determine who to send certificate order emails to and the language to send them in.

On the certificate order form, we display a notification icon (bell) indicating whether the organization and technical contacts are receiving certificate lifecycle emails:
