Import domains and automate domain validation
Automatic domain validation begins when you import domains from your UltraDNS account into CertCentral.
Before you begin
Before you import domains:
Make sure UltraDNS is connected to CertCentral.
Identify which domains you want to import into CertCentral.
Decide which CertCentral organization to assign the imported domains to.
Test the process before importing multiple domains
DigiCert recommends making one domain visible to CertCentral for import. Importing one domain helps you verify the UltraDNS connection and test the automatic domain validation process before importing multiple domains.
How the validation process works
CertCentral generates a random value for your UltraDNS domains and places it on each domain's DNS TXT record.
CertCentral checks the DNS TXT records for the value and completes domain validation.
At the top of the hour, CertCentral automatically validates your imported UltraDNS domains.
The revalidation process runs weekly, helping keep your domain validations current even when domain validation reuse is reduced to nine days.
Step 1: Make domains visible to CertCentral
In your UltraDNS Management Portal, in the left menu, go to Domains.
To sign in, go to https://portal.ultradns.com/.
On the Domains page, do one of the following:
Make one domain visible to CertCentral.
In the domain's Visible to CertCentral column, use the toggle to turn domain visibility On.
Make multiple domains visible to CertCentral.
Select the box next to each domain.
In the Visible to CertCentral menu, select Enable visibility.
For more detailed instructions, see the UltraDNS - Visible to CertCentral.
Step 2: Import UltraDNS domains and automate domain validation
In CertCentral, in the left menu, go to Certificates > Domains.
On the Domains page, on the Domains available for import tab, review the domains made visible to CertCentral.
Select Import and automate domains.
On the Import domain from UltraDNS to automate page, select Import and automate domains.
Select Assign domains to an organization.
In the Assign domains to an organization window, do one of the following and then select Assign:
When you have one to six organizations
Select the organization to which you want to assign the domains.
When you have seven or more organizations
In the Assign domains to an organization menu, select the organization to which you want to assign the domains.
What's next
CertCentral takes you to the Domains page, where your imported domains are assigned a domain ID and submitted for domain validation using the DNS TXT record DCV method. Each domain has a Pending validation status.
At the top of the hour, CertCentral automatically validates your UltraDNS-linked domains for the first time. Then, the revalidation process runs weekly, keeping your domain validations current.
