Identify the provisioning method on a code signing order

Use these steps to find the provisioning method that was selected when a Code Signing or EV Code Signing certificate was ordered.

Notice

Code signing certificates issued before June 1, 2023 do not display a provisioning method on the Order details page. For background on the private key storage requirements introduced in November 2022, see New private key storage requirement for Standard Code Signing certificates.

Identify a provisioning method

  1. In the CertCentral main menu,

    • For Enterprise and Partner accounts: go to Certificate > Orders.

    • For Subscription accounts: go to My digital trust products > Certificates.

  2. On the Orders page, select the order number link for the code signing certificate.

  3. On the Order details page, find the Provisioning method section

  4. Review the provisioning method listed. The following methods may appear:

    Provisioning method

    Key storage

    DigiCert-provided hardware token

    DigiCert-shipped token

    Use existing token

    Customer-owned certified token

Install on Hardware security module (HSM)

If no provisioning method appears, the certificate was issued before June 1, 2023. See the notice.
