Complete validation from the Order details page (DV)

After submitting a DV certificate request, complete domain validation from the Order details page.

Complete validation

  1. In CertCentral, go to the DV TLS certificate's Order # details page.

    • For Enterprise, Partner, or legacy accounts: In the CertCentral menu, go to Certificates > Orders. On the Orders page, in the Order # column, select the certificate order number link.

    • For Subscription accounts: In the CertCentral menu, go to My Digital Trust Products > Certificates. On the Certificates page, in the Order # column, select the certificate order number link.

  2. On the Order # details page, in the Certificate status section, check the order's issuance status. Confirm the order is waiting on domain validation to be completed.

When validation is complete, the Certificate status section no longer appears on the page.

  3. Under What do you need to do, select the Prove control over your domain link.

  4. In the Prove control over your domain window, in the Domain control validation (DCV) method menu, use the selected DCV method or select a different DCV method if needed..

    Notice

DNS TXT record is the recommended method as it is the least vulnerable to industry changes.

  5. Complete the validation steps for your selected DCV method:

  6. If using Persistent DNS TXT, DNS TXT, CNAME, or HTTP Practical Demonstration DCV methods, under 5. Complete domain validation, select Check record or Check site.

Run the check manually or wait for DigiCert's automatic DCV check to detect the validation artifact. See Automatic domain control validation (DCV) check.

  7. When domain control is confirmed:

    • For Persistent DNS TXT record: Do not delete the DNS TXT records after the domains are validated. Leave the DNS TXT record and persistent TXT value in place for future domain validations.

    • For HTTP Practical Demonstration, DNS TXT record, DNS CNAME record: You may delete the record or file used to validate the domains.

What's next

DigiCert validates the domain after detecting the required validation artifact or receiving approval from the domain contact. When all domains are validated, DigiCert proceeds with certificate issuance.
