Verified contacts
Per industry standards, a verified contact must approve Extended Validation (EV) TLS, Code Signing, and EV Code Signing orders before DigiCert can issue these certificates. A verified contact is an individual who represents an organization and is authorized to approve certificate orders on behalf of the organization.
EV verified contact | Authorized to approve EV TLS/SSL certificate orders on behalf of the organization, such as Basic EV, Secure Site EV, and Secure Site Pro EV |
CS verified contact | Authorized to approve Code Signing certificates orders on behalf of the organization |
EV CS verified contact | Authorized to approve EV Code Signing certificate orders on behalf of the organization |

How does the verified contact order approval process work?
DigiCert sends the order approval email to all selected verified contacts on a certificate order. Then, we wait for just one of them to approve the order. When the order is approved, DigiCert can issue your certificate. Having multiple verified contacts increases the likelihood of orders being approved quickly.
How do I add verified contacts?
CertCentral allows you to add verified contacts while submitting organizations for validation and while ordering certificates:
While submitting the organization for validation, you can add verified contacts for the organization. Learn more about submitting an organization for validation.
While ordering an EV TLS, Code Signing, or EV Code Signing certificate, you can also add verified contacts for the organization included in the certificate.
Do I need to add an individual to CertCentral before making them a verified contact?
Verified contacts may be individuals in your CertCentral account, but that isn’t a requirement. To approve a certificate order, the verified contact follows the directions in the order approval email. Learn how to add non-CertCentral account users as verified contacts.
