Identify the validation level of a wildcard certificate
Wildcard certificates are issued at either the Domain Validation (DV) or Organization Validation (OV) level. Extended Validation (EV) is not permitted for wildcard certificates under CA/B Forum baseline requirements. Use the order details page to confirm which validation level applies to your certificate.
In the CertCentral main menu,
For Enterprise and Partner accounts: go to Certificates > Orders.
For Subscription accounts: go to My Digital Trust Products > Certificates.
Select the order number for the wildcard certificate.
On the order details page, review the Certificate information section.
Check for an Organization field:
If an organization is listed, the certificate is an OV certificate.
If no organization is listed, the certificate is a DV certificate.
Note
Note The certificate product name also indicates the validation level. DV wildcard products include RapidSSL Wildcard DV. OV wildcard products include Basic OV, GeoTrust TrueBusiness ID OV, Secure Site OV, Secure Site Wildcard OV, Secure Site Pro SSL, and Thawte SSL Webserver OV. For a full list of DV products available in your account, see Request DV TLS/SSL certificate. For OV products, see Request OV TLS/SSL certificate.
