Verify your identity

The identity verification process verifies you are who you say you are. Because your signature is an extension of who you are, you must verify your identity and link it to your signature before you can sign documents.

Remote Identity Verification (RIV)

The RIV method is recommended to verify your identity because it allows you to complete the procedure at your own convenience, using your mobile device.

Use these instructions to validate your identity remotely using the IDnow Autoldent application (app).

Before you begin

Before you start, make sure you meet these prerequisites:

  1. Have the Verify your identity email.

You cannot validate your identity until you receive an email with a validation code and instructions to verify your identity. Contact your company's administrator for DigiCert® Document Trust Manager if you have not received this email.

    Caution

The validation code in this email expires after 30 days. Once it expires, you must request a new email from your company's administrator for DigiCert® Document Trust Manager.

  2. Set up your DigiCert® Document Trust Manager account. See Set up your DigiCert ONE account.

  3. Have your identification document.

    Notice

In most cases, your passport is the most acceptable form of identification document. In European nations that use NFC-enabled identification cards, you can also use your ID card. In the United States, you can also use your driver's license. See Document acceptance list for remote identity verification.

  4. Find a well-lit location.

You must use the camera on your smartphone to scan your identification document and verify you are a live person.

  5. Be ready to take a picture of yourself.

You must take a selfie to validate you are a live person.

Face-to-face (F2F)

The F2F method is an alternative to RIV that requires you to meet in person with an authorized professional who can verify that you are who you say you are. The professionals who are authorized to verify your identity differ depending on where you are located. An exception exists for the United States of America (USA) where an individual may verify their identity with a DigiCert employee via a video call.
