Select Install next to the client tool.
Tip
Want to stay updated with the latest features?
Once you first install a client tool, a pop-up appears to confirm whether you want to enable auto-updates. Select the checkbox in this pop-up to enable auto-updates.
Installation pop-up
Once you first install a client tool, an installation pop-up appears to help finish your setup. This pop-up is designed to resolve setup requirements and simplify your experience.
The installation pop-up appears when your client tool requires configuration, such as:
The client tool depends on other client tools that aren’t currently installed.
The tool is linked to a specific user.
If the tool has dependencies, the installation pop-up displays a color-coded list to help you understand what is required:
Green: Required and already installed.
Blue: Required and automatically selected for installation with your selected tool.
Grey: Optional. Not required if you already have an alternative installed
Tip
Scenario
If you want to sign using DigiCert® Click-to-sign, you need SMCTL and either PKCS11 or a Key Storage Provider (KSP) library.
If SMCTL isn’t currently installed, it's highlighted in blue. This indicates that SMCTL is selected for installation by default because Click-to sign can’t work without it.
If the PKCS11 library is already installed, it's highlighted in green.
If the KSP library is highlighted in gray, it’s available for installation but not required, seeing as you already have the PKCS11 library installed. This means you can optionally select it for installation.
If the tool requires credentials, the installation pop-up guides you through authentication setup. The app automatically configures your credentials during installation, no manual setup required. This ensures your client tool is ready to use right away, with secure access already in place.
The following authentication methods are available to you:
Store my credentials (Recommended) Automatically generates and stores an Application Programming Interface (API) key and client authentication certificate for you. This is ideal for faster, seamless access.
Use dynamic authentication Requires your DigiCert ONE sign in credentials each time you use the tool.
Configure a new service user Generates a dedicated service user and securely stores the API key and certificate. This is ideal for service integrations and automation.
