Credential setup for Linux
All DigiCert® Software Trust Manager client tools require your environment variables to be set.
Prerequisites
DigiCert ONE host
To learn more, see Host environment.
To learn more, see Create an API key.
Client authentication certificate path
Client authentication certificate password
Credential setup methods for Linux
Select one of the following methods to configure your environment variables for SMCTL. Also, you may want to use one of these methods to securely store your credentials.
Which credentials are prioritized by client tools?
The client tools look for and use your credentials in the following order:
Check if session-based or persistent environment variables have been provided. If the API key and client authentication password isn't found, then go to Step 2.
Check the properties file was set up. If the properties file isn't found, then go to Step 3.
Check if credentials can be found in Linux Pass.
Note
If the credentials are available in multiple locations, then the priority should be:
First: Environment variables
Second: Properties file
Third: Linux Pass
Refer to the log files to identify where the client tools picked up the credentials for each execution.
