Credential setup methods for Linux
Select one of the four methods below to configure your environment variables for SMCTL. You may want to use one of the methods below to securely store your credentials.
Which credentials does the client tools prioritize?
The client tools will look for and use your credentials in the following order:
Check if session-based or persistent environment variables have been provided.
If the API key and client authentication password is not found, then:
Check the properties file was set up.
If the properties file is not found, then:
Check if credentials can be found in Linux Pass.
Note
If the credentials are available in multiple locations, then the priority is always given to the environment variables, then to the properties file, and then finally to the Linux Pass.
Refer to the log files to identify where the client tools picked up the credentials for each execution.
