Agent groups

Agent groups in DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager make it easier to manage DigiCert agents at scale. By assigning agents to logical groups, administrators can perform management actions and apply configurations across all agents in a group at once. Each group can also be configured with email recipients to receive notifications about the agents in the group.

Follow the instructions on this page to create and manage groups, assign or unassign agents from groups, and perform actions on agents within each group. Group management actions are available from the Discovery & automation tools > Agents page in Trust Lifecycle Manager.

Create a group

To create a new agent group:

  1. From the Trust Lifecycle Manager menu, go to Discovery & automation tools > Agents.

  2. Select the Manage groups button above the table.

  3. In the Group management sidebar, select Create group.

  4. Enter the details for the new group:

    • Group name: Enter a friendly name for the new group.

    • Group description (optional): Enter an optional description for the group.

    • Notification recipients: Enter one or more comma-separated email addresses to receive notifications about the agents in this group.

  5. Select Create group.

Assign agents to a group

You can assign agents to a group individually or in bulk from the agents table on the Discovery & automation tools > Agents page.

Important

Each agent can only belong to a single group at a time. To assign an agent to a group, it must be in an active state. Agents in error states cannot be assigned.

Assign an individual agent

To assign an individual agent to a group:

  1. Find the agent in the table and select Assign group from the actions menu in the rightmost column.

  2. In the dialog that opens, select the group to assign from the Group name dropdown.

  3. Select Assign to assign the agent to the selected group.

Bulk assign multiple agents

To bulk assign multiple agents to a group:

  1. Use the checkboxes on the left of the table to select the agents to assign.

  2. Select Assign groups from the table header.

  3. Select the Target group to assign the agents to.

  4. Select Assign to assign the agents to the selected group.

Manage agents by group

Use the Agent groups view to manage all the agents in a particular group:

  1. Go to Discovery & automation tools > Agents.

  2. From the dropdown above the table, select the Agent groups view.

  3. Find the group to manage in the table and select an action from the rightmost column.

Edit the settings for a group

To edit the settings for an existing agent group:

  1. Go to Discovery & automation tools > Agents.

  2. Select the Manage groups button above the table.

  3. In the Group management sidebar, find the group to update and select the pencil (edit) icon from the rightmost table column.

    Tip

    Tip: Use the search bar to search groups by name.

  4. In the Edit group dialog, edit the group settings.

  5. Select Update to save your changes.

Unassign agents from a group

You can unassign agents from a group individually or in bulk from the agents table on the Discovery & automation tools > Agents page.

Unassign an individual agent

To unassign an individual agent from a group:

  • Find the agent in the table and select Unassign group from the actions menu in the rightmost column.

Bulk unassign multiple agents

To bulk unassign multiple agents from a group:

  1. Use the checkboxes on the left of the table to select the agents to unassign.

  2. Open the More actions menu from the table header and select Agent groups > Unassign groups.

Reassign agents to a different group

To reassign all the agents from their current group to a different group:

  1. Go to Discovery & automation tools > Agents.

  2. Select the Manage groups button above the table.

  3. In the Group management sidebar, find the source group with the agents you want to reassign and select Reassign agents from the actions menu in the rightmost table column.

  4. In the dialog that opens, select the Target group to reassign the agents to.

  5. Select Reassign to reassign the agents to the target group.

Delete a group

To delete an existing agent group:

  1. Go to Discovery & automation tools > Agents.

  2. Select the Manage groups button above the table.

  3. In the Group management sidebar, find the group you want to delete and select Delete group from the actions menu in the rightmost table column.

  4. To reassign the agents after deleting the current group, select a new group to assign them to. Otherwise, the agents will not be assigned to any group after the group is deleted.

  5. Select Delete group to complete the delete operation.

Notice

The delete operation only deletes the group. It does not delete any agents.
