VMCs for government marks

Verified Mark Certificates (VMCs) can now be issued to holders of government marks as well as registered trademarks.

What is a government mark? While a registered trademark represents the brand identity of a business, a government mark is a logo or image granted by a law, regulation, or treaty. It allows holders of the mark to display their official seal or logo next to the emails they send, just as trademark holders can.

Instead of presenting a trademark registration, government entities present their enabling legislation – the law or government record that grants the logo to the entity – to prove the mark's legitimacy for the purpose of obtaining a VMC.
