Prerequisites

ACME integration is part of DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager:

  • Make sure DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager appears under My DigiCert ONE Managers when you select the waffle navigation menu on the top-right.

In DigiCert® DigiCert® Account Manager, make sure certificate automation is enabled:

  • In the left main menu, under Accounts, verify your account has Automated certificate management enabled for DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager in the "Features" section.

  • Under Access, verify your user account has DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager Manage profile permissions.

To issue certificates via ACME, you need available certificate management seats allocated to the relevant business units:

  • In DigiCert® Account Manager, under Accounts, verify your account has available certificate management seats in the Licenses section.

  • In DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager, make sure certificate management seats are allocated to the relevant business units for certificate issuance:

    1. In the left main menu, select Manage > Business Units.

    2. Select the relevant Business unit name to view the details for it.

    3. In the Seat types section, verify there are available certificate management seats. Select the pencil (edit) icon on the right to allocate additional certificate management seats.

ACME integration can be used to issue private certificates from DigiCert ONE, or to issue public or private certificates from a linked CertCentral account.

To get private certificates from your DigiCert ONE account:

  • You need at least one issuing certificate authority set up in DigiCert® CA Manager

To get private or public certificates from a linked CertCentral account:

  • In DigiCert® Account Manager, under Access, verify your user account has DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager Manage CertCentral API KEY permissions.

  • For private certificates, you need at least one existing private root CA available in your CertCentral account.

  • For public OV/EV certificates, organizations must be prevalidated.
