Not all signatures are for production level release. So, to ensure that the production release process is repeatable as part of our customers iterative development process, we facilitate a process by which test signatures can be completed using short lived certificates without consuming licenses from the production signature unit pool.

Test files, apps and software are signed with short lived private trust certificates which can only be associated with Test Keypairs that will expire after 30 days. Once the test keypair expires after 30 days, it can no longer be used for signing even if the short-lived certificate is still valid.

Test Signatures will be valid for the duration of the test certificate. Test Certificates are generated based on Test Certificate Templates and Test Certificate Profiles and have a separate pool of signature units which is enabled based on the volume of production signatures a customer has licensed.
