  • Configure the DCV methods to appear in the DCV methods menu when domain control validation is required.

  • Set the default DCV method when multiple DCV methods are available.

  • TLS certificate workflow

    • Request forms, new, reissue, and renewal

    • Pending order details pages

Configure your domain control validation method settings

  1. In your CertCentral account, go to Settings > Preferences.

  2. On the Preferences page, expand Advanced Settings.

  3. In the Domain Control Validation (DCV) section, under DCV Methods, do the following as required to meet the needs of your situation:

    1. DCV methods

      • Verification Email

To demonstrate control over the domain, an email recipient follows the instructions in a confirmation email sent for the domain. DigiCert sends three sets of DCV emails: WHOIS-based, constructed, and DNS TXT-based.

      • DNS TXT Record

Demonstrate control over a domain by adding the DigiCert-generated random value to the domain’s DNS as a TXT record.

      • DNS CNAME Record

Demonstrate control over a domain by adding the DigiCert-generated random value to the domain’s DNS as a CNAME record.

      • HTTP Practical Demonstration

Demonstrate control over a domain, by hosting a file containing a DigiCert-generated random value at a predetermined location on your website.

      • HTTP Practical Demonstration with unique file name

Demonstrate control over a domain by hosting a file with a random filename that contains a DigiCert-generated random value at a predetermined location on your website.

    2. Set default DCV method

In the menu, select the DCV method you want selected by default when multiple methods are available.

    3. Hide domain control validation (DCV) methods on the TLS certificate request forms: new, reissues, and renewals

Select this option to hide the Domain control validation (DCV) methods menu on TLS certificate request forms.

The option does not apply to pending order details pages or the domain validation workflow mentioned at the beginning of the instructions.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save Settings.
