Jobs

In Device Trust Manager, a job refers to a long-running operation that supports devices.

Job types

Review the following available job types:

Job type

Description

Batch device registration

With this job type, you can register multiple devices as a batch job. Afterwards, you can issue bootstrap certificates and generate bootstrap configurations for the registered devices.

Batch certificate issuance

With this job type, after a device has been registered, you can issue secondary bootstrap or operational certificates.

Deployments

With this job type, you can create a deployment, and then assign that deployment to a device group.

A deployment delivers software updates (via a release) to devices.


Understand the Completed jobs and Draft jobs tables

In the Jobs landing page, there are two tables, Completed jobs and Draft jobs.

Review the following table to understand the components of these tables:

Column

Description

Job ID

This column displays the auto-generated ID for the specific job.

Job type

This column displays the type of job, which can be:

  • Batch device registration

  • Batch certificate issuance

  • Deployments

Job state

This column displays a sub-state of the job that relates to the job status.

In other words, this column provides additional details regarding the specific job type.

For deployment-related jobs, the states are:

  • Scheduled

  • Active

  • Completed

  • Aborted

For registered-related jobs, the states are:

  • Active

  • Success

  • Failed

Job result

This column displays:

  • The number of failed jobs

  • The number of successful jobs

  • The total number of jobs

Device group

This column displays the corresponding device groups that received the deployment.

Job run date

This column displays the date that the job was executed.


View detailed job information

  1. Sign in to your DigiCert ONE® Device Trust Manager account.

  2. In DigiCert ONE, in the Manager menu (top right), select DigiCert® Device Trust Manager.

  3. In Device Trust Manager, go to Jobs.

  4. Select the desired job.

  5. In Job details, review the available tables.

Column

Description

Job state

This column displays the current status of the job, which can be:

  • Pending

  • In progress

  • Executed

  • Terminated

Job ID

This column displays the auto-generated ID for the specific job.

Job type

This column displays the type of job, which can be:

  • Batch device registration

  • Batch certificate issuance

  • Deployments

Device group

This column displays the device group associated with the job.

Job owner

This column displays the username or title of the individual who created the job.

Job run date

This column displays the date that the job was executed.


4. Device registration

Column

Description

Completed

This section displays the number of devices that successfully registered (batch registration).

Failed

This section displays the number of devices that failed to registered (batch registration).


5. Certificates

Column

Description

Certificate value

This column displays the name of the certificate.

Start date

This column displays the date and time that the certificate is valid.

End date

This column displays the date and time that the certificate expires.


6. General information

Column

Description

Certificate policy

This column displays the name of the certificate policy.

Certificate type

This column displays the type of certificate associated with the job, which can be:

  • Bootstrap

    • Bootstrap certificates are used to securely onboard and authenticate new devices onto a network.

  • Operational

    • Operational certificates are used to secure and authenticate existing devices already on a network.

Batch CSV

File size

This column displays the size of the downloaded file.

Download format

This column displays the format of the downloaded certificate, which will usually be a Base64.PEM zipped file.


7. Job logs

Column

Description

Action

This column displays the purpose of the job, which can be:

  • Certificate download

  • Configuration download

Downloaded from

This column displays the location where the certificate or configuration was downloaded from, which can be:

  • DigiCert ONE

  • API

User

This column displays the username of the individual who performed the job.

Date

This column displays the date that the job was executed.
