Set up the UltraDNS to CertCentral connection

With your UltraDNS integration, CertCentral automatically uses the DNS TXT record DCV method to validate your domains on your behalf.

Step 1: Get the UltraDNS account information required to set up the connection

  1. In your UltraDNS Management Portal, go to Accounts > [your account] > DigiCert CertCentral Connection and select Link.

  2. In the Connection window, you should see your Account ID and a Secret key.

  3. Select Click to Copy to save these two values.

Step 2: In UltraDNS, make one or two domains visible to CertCentral for import

DigiCert recommends making at least one or two domains visible to CertCentral for import to establish and verify your UltraDNS connection and test the automatic domain validation process. Then, once the integration is complete, you can migrate more later.

  1. In your UltraDNS Management Portal, go to Domains.

  2. On the Domains page, select the domain you want to import/link to CertCentral and in the Edit domain window, select Visible to CertCentral.

Step 3: Connect CertCentral to UltraDNS and import domains

  1. On the CertCentral Dashboard, in the Skip manual domain validation forever banner, select Integrate with UltraDNS.

Or, in the left menu, go to Automation > Integrate with UltraDNS.

  2. On the Integrate with UltraDNS page, under Link account, enter your 16-digit UltraDNS Account ID and its API secret and then select Link.

  3. On the Import domain from UltraDNS to automate page, select Import and automate domains.

  4. Next, select Assign domains to an organization.

  5. In the Assign domains to an organization window, in the Select an organization menu, select the organization to assign the domains to, and select OK.

What’s next

Once you’re done importing domains, CertCentral takes you to the Domains page. On this page, your imported domains are assigned a domain ID and submitted for domain validation using the DNS TXT record DCV method. Each domain has a Pending validation status.

At the top of the hour, CertCentral automatically validates your UltraDNS-linked domains for the first time. Then, the revalidation process runs weekly, ensuring your domains’ validation is always valid.

How the validation process works

CertCentral generates a random value for your UltraDNS domains and places it on each domain's DNS TXT record. Then, CertCentral checks the DNS TXT records for the value and finishes the domain validation.
