Release

While a release defines the updates to be applied, it is not the deployment mechanism itself. Instead, releases are used as part of a deployment, which manages the delivery of the release to specified device groups. The deployment ensures that the artifacts within the release are distributed and applied consistently across all targeted devices.

Release properties

Releases in Device Trust Manager are defined by several key attributes that control their structure and behavior.

tabel 1. Release properties

Property

Description

Release version

A unique identifier that tracks the release and ensures version control for future updates and rollbacks.

Division association

Specifies the division the release is associated with. The release can include artifacts that are either part of the same division or available at the account level.

Artifacts

The individual components that make up the release, such as firmware updates, application patches, or configurations.

Deployments and releases

A release contains the artifacts that define the updates, but it is delivered to devices through a deployment.

The deployment process manages both the timing and distribution of the release to the specified device group, ensuring that updates are applied according to the release configuration. This structure ensures updates are applied consistently and in the correct order across all devices.
