Licensing and plans
Your DigiCert® Software Trust Manager account may use either the current or legacy licensing model, depending on when your subscription began. Both plans offer the same software trust features but package them differently. The current licensing models introduce secure release features to customers that was not available to legacy license model customers.
Current model
The current licensing model for Software Trust Manager is being introduced in September 2026. It offers multi-tiered subscription plans that use a single, unified unit license type across all plans.
Subscription plans
The current model has three subscription plans, each designed to meet different software signing and secure release management needs:

Advanced
Premium
Licensing units
Each unit can be used for up to 1,000 software signatures. All plans include at least 1 HSM Keypair when purchasing 1 or more units. The Advanced and Premium plans include 2 HSM keypairs when purchasing 10 or more signing units. The Premium plan includes 3 HSM keypairs when purchasing 20 or more units. Additional HSM keypairs are available for a fee.

Legacy model
The legacy licensing model for Software Trust Manager applies to subscriptions that began before September 2026 and haven’t been transitioned to the current model. It uses separate unit license types to access different software signing features.
Licensing unit types
The following table describes the different unit types in the legacy licensing model for Software Trust Manager. Each unit type corresponds to a specific signing, cryptographic, testing, key management, or threat detection capability.
