Manage your certificates

For certificates enrolled using the DigiCert Trust Lifecycle Manager app in ServiceNow, you can use the app's Certificates module to manage the certificates on an ongoing basis.

The management functions described here only apply to certificates enrolled using the ServiceNow app for DigiCert​​®​​ Trust Lifecycle Manager. For other certificates in your DigiCert ONE account, you can copy the certificates to the CMDB table in ServiceNow to take action on them there. For details, see Configuration management database (CMDB) integration.

Manage a certificate in the app

To manage an existing certificate that was enrolled using the DigiCert Trust Lifecycle Manager app in ServiceNow:

  1. From the ServiceNow app menu, go to Certificates.

  2. Find the certificate in the table, and open the More actions (three dots) menu next to the common name.

  3. Select one of the available management actions, as described in the following section.

Available management actions

In the ServiceNow app Certificates module, the available management actions for a certificate depend on the certificate status and may include the following.

Renew

Request issuance of the same certificate with new validity dates from DigiCert® ONE.

Resend renewal email

Resend the renewal notice for a certificate approaching expiration.

Revoke

Revoke a certificate.

Download

Download a certificate in PEM format.

Advanced delivery formats

Download a certificate in a format other than PEM.

Renewing certificates

By default, requests to renew certificates must be approved by a user with the x_dice_digicertone.business_owner role.

However, certificates issued from a profile with the Automated approval for renewal requests option enabled do not require manual approval for renewal. When you request renewal for these certificates from the ServiceNow app, the system displays a message confirming the renewal process without additional approval steps.

Sync certificates

Outside of the ServiceNow app, DigiCert ONE admins can use the Inventory page in DigiCert ONE Trust Lifecycle Manager to manage certificates that were originally enrolled from the ServiceNow app.

After making updates in DigiCert ONE, use the Sync certificates action to update the corresponding certificate records in the ServiceNow app.

To initiate a sync operation from the ServiceNow app:

  1. From the ServiceNow app menu, go to Certificates.

  2. Select Sync certificates. If the Sync certificates button does not appear, you need the admin role. Contact your admin to request it.

  3. The applicable certificate records in the ServiceNow app now match the ones in your organization's DigiCert ONE account.

Belangrijk

Only certificates originally enrolled from the ServiceNow app can be synced in this way. For other certificates in your DigiCert ONE account, you can enable CMDB integration to copy the certificates to the CMDB table in ServiceNow, but you cannot view or manage the certificates from the app's Certificates module.
