Turn on or off automatic certificate renewals

When automatic renewal is enabled for a certificate order, DigiCert automatically submits a renewal request 30 days before the order expires.

Notice

Automatic renewal is not available for:

  • Certificate orders paid by credit card

  • Certificates installed on hardware tokens

  • EV code signing certificates

  • Document signing certificates

If the Auto-renew option is not visible on the Order details page, the feature may be disabled for that product. Go to Settings > Product Settings, select the certificate product, and confirm whether Auto-renew has been disabled.

Enable or disable automatic renewal

  1. In the CertCentral main menu, go to Certificates > Orders.

  2. Select the order number of the certificate.

  3. On the Order details page, next to Order validity, select the Auto-renew toggle to turn automatic renewal on or off.

When enabled, DigiCert automatically submits a renewal request each time the certificate reaches 30 days before expiration. When disabled, automatic renewal stops and the certificate can be renewed manually from 90 days before expiration.
