Update DNS records when DigiCert hosts your files
After setting up DigiCert hosting for your VMC or CMC, update your DNS records to point to the hosted logo and certificate files. This step is required for your logo to appear in supported email clients.
Obtain your logo and certificate URLs
In the CertCentral menu, go to Certificates > Orders.
Select the order number for your VMC or CMC.
On the Order details page, on the Details tab, in the Logo and certificate settings section, select Display the URLs for hosted files.
Copy the URLs for your logo and certificate. Repeat for each domain on the certificate.
Add a BIMI DNS TXT record for a single logo
Go to your DNS provider and create a new TXT record.
In the Record type field, select TXT.
In the Host field, enter
default._bimi.yourdomain.com, replacingyourdomain.comwith your domain name.In the Value field, enter
v=BIMI1; l=[logo URL]; a=[certificate URL], replacing the placeholder text with the URLs copied from CertCentral. In the TTL field, enter
3600(1 hour). Check your DNS provider's documentation for accepted formats.Save the record.
Allow at least 48 hours for the record to propagate through the DNS system.
Add BIMI records for multiple logos
If your organization uses multiple logos across multiple domains or subdomains, you need one VMC or CMC per logo. Use the BIMI selector functionality to manage multiple records.
The following table shows the number of certificates required for different domain and logo combinations:
Domain structure | Number of logos | Certificates required |
|---|---|---|
Single domain | One logo | One certificate |
Single domain | Multiple logos | One certificate per logo |
Multiple domains | One logo | One certificate |
Multiple domains | Multiple logos | One certificate per logo |
Multiple subdomains | One logo | One certificate |
Multiple subdomains | Multiple logos | One certificate per logo |

Troubleshooting
Your logo does not appear in email clients after updating DNS records.
Allow at least 48 hours for DNS propagation before troubleshooting. Confirm the BIMI TXT record value matches the hosted file URLs exactly, including the v=BIMI1 prefix and correct URL format. Confirm your domain has a DMARC policy in place.
