Shortening domain and OV - organization validation reuse periods
Starting February 24, 2026, DigiCert shortened the reuse periods for domain validation and OV organization validation to align with industry changes.
199-day domain validation reuse period
On February 24, 2026, DigiCert shortened the domain validation reuse period to 199 days. Because the industry change was retroactive, we also shortened the reuse period for your existing domain validation to 199 days. Removed the Validation expires SC-081 column
Now that the reduced-domain validation changes are live, we’ve removed the temporary Validation expires SC-081 column from the Domains page. The Validation expires column now shows the correct validation expiration date for your domains.
Background
Previously, on the Domains page in CertCentral, we added a new Validation expires SC-081 column next to the Validation expires column. This temporary column let you compare the original and new expiration dates and determine when domain revalidation was needed, per the changes coming on February 24, 2026.
397-day OV organization validation reuse period for public OV TLS certificates
On February 24, 2026, DigiCert shortened the organization validation reuse period for public OV TLS certificates to 397 days. Because the industry change was retroactive, we also shortened the reuse period for your existing OV organization validations to 397 days. Removed the second OV organization expiration date
Now that the reduced OV organization validation reuse changes are live, we removed the temporary Expires on…per SC-081 entry from the organization details page. The Expires on… date now shows the correct validation expiration date for your OV organization validation.

Previously, on the organization detail page in CertCentral, we added a second OV organization expiration date to comply with Ballot SC-81 requirements for a 397-day OV organization reuse period. This second expiration date let you compare the original and new expiration dates and plan for organization revalidation as needed.
