Skip the approval step for certificate requests
By default, CertCentral accounts require an administrator to approve a certificate request before DigiCert processes the order. For OV and EV TLS certificate orders, you can skip the approval step for administrators and managers to enable faster certificate issuance.
Important
For Subscription accounts, the certificate issuance process does not include an approval step. Orders are automatically submitted to DigiCert for processing. This configuration does not apply to Subscription accounts.
How the skip approval step works
When the approval step is skipped, orders from administrators and managers are submitted directly to DigiCert for processing. CertCentral does not add these requests to the Requests page. Instead, the order appears on the Orders page with one of the following statuses:
Issued: domain and organization validations are current. DigiCert issues the certificate automatically.
Pending: domain or organization validation is required, or the order needs verified contact approval. The order remains pending until all required validations and approvals are complete.
Approvals may still be required
Skipping the approval step does not remove all approval requirements:
Administrator's request approval: administrators must still approve TLS certificate requests submitted by Finance Managers, Standard Users, Limited Users, and all Guest URL and Guest access requests. All certificate revocation requests also still require administrator approval.
Verified contact approval: for EV TLS certificates, a validated verified contact may still need to approve the order before DigiCert can issue the certificate. To remove the verified contact approval step, the administrator or manager must also be a designated verified contact for the organization on the certificate.
Skip the approval step for administrators and managers
In the CertCentral main menu, go to Settings > Preferences.
On the Preferences page, expand Advanced Settings.
In the Certificate Requests section, under Approval steps, select Skip the approval step for certificate requests from Administrators and Managers.
Select Save Settings.
Administrators and managers can now order OV and EV TLS certificates without an approval step. Orders are submitted directly to DigiCert for processing. If domain and organization validations are current, DigiCert issues the certificate immediately.
