Service Users
A service user is an API key for your CertCentral account that is not linked to a named account user. When a developer is promoted, changes departments, retires, or leaves the company, the service user key remains active and does not need to be replaced.
Only administrators can create service users. You can create multiple service users for your account, or create a single service user with multiple API keys.
Service user creation is tracked in your CertCentral audit logs. Each entry records the date and time, user, activity, source, IP address, division, and country.
Before you begin
You must have Administrator access to create service users.
Create a service user
In the CertCentral main menu, go to Automation > API Keys.
On the API Keys page, select Add API Key.
In the Add API Key window, enter a Description for the new key.
In the User menu, select Create new service user.
Complete the remaining fields and select Add API Key.
For the full set of API key options, see Generate an API key.
Permission scope
By default, the service user inherits the creating administrator's permissions. To restrict access, limit the API key permissions when creating or editing the service user.
