Revalidate a domain before validation expires

Important

As of February 24, 2026, the domain validation reuse period is limited to 199 days. Learn more about Domain validation requirements and reuse periods.

Revalidate a domain before the validation reuse period expires to maintain continuous domain validation status and avoid delays during certificate renewal, reissue, and duplicate requests.

DigiCert recommends revalidating domains proactively before the reuse period expires rather than waiting until validation lapses. If a certificate order is submitted while domain revalidation is pending, DigiCert uses the current valid domain validation to issue the certificate if it has not yet expired.

Revalidate a domain

For Enterprise, Partner, and Legacy accounts:

  1. In the CertCentral main menu, go to Certificates > Domains.

  2. On the Domains page, in the Validation status menu, select Completed / Validated and select Go.

  3. Review the Validation expires column to identify domains approaching expiry.

  4. Select the domain name to open the domain details page.

  5. In the Domain control validation (DCV) method section, select the DCV method to use for revalidation.

  6. Complete validation using the selected method.

For Subscription accounts:

  1. In the CertCentral main menu, go to Validation > Domains.

DigiCert updates the domain validation status and resets the reuse period after revalidation is complete.
