Add a verified contact for an organization

Before you begin

  • Organization validation is not affected when you add a verified contact. However, if you add both a validated and a not-yet-validated contact to an order, DigiCert delays the approval email until all contacts are validated.

  • When you add a new verified contact, DigiCert contacts the organization directly to confirm the individual's name, email address, phone number, job title, and authority.

  • DigiCert must validate the verified contact before they can approve certificate requests for the organization.

Add a verified contact

  1. In the CertCentral main menu, go to Certificates > Organizations.

  2. On the Organizations page, in the Name column, select the organization.

  3. On the organization details page, in the Verified Contacts section, select Add Contact.

    Notice

The Verified Contacts section only appears if the organization has been submitted for a validation type that requires a verified contact. See Submit an organization for validation.

  4. In the Add Contact window, do one of the following:

Option 1: Add an existing CertCentral account user

    1. Select Existing contact.

    2. In the Contacts menu, select the user.

    3. If the contact is missing a job title or phone number, add the missing information.

    4. Select Add.

Option 2: Add a new contact

    1. Select New contact.

    2. Enter the contact's first and last name, job title, email address, and phone number.

    3. Select Add.

      Notice

The New contact option only appears if your account is configured to allow non-CertCentral users as verified contacts. See Enable adding non-CertCentral account users as verified contacts.

  5. Select the certificate types the contact can approve:

    • EV: For approving EV TLS/SSL certificate requests

    • EV CS: For approving EV code signing certificate requests

    • CS: For approving code signing certificate requests

  6. Select Submit for Validation.

DigiCert validates the verified contact before they can approve certificate requests. The next time you submit a certificate request for this organization, the verified contact appears as an available approver for the certificate types you selected.

Warning

After you add an individual as a verified contact for EV, EV CS, or CS validation, you cannot remove them. Confirm the contact's details are accurate before adding.
