Create and configure a subaccount

Before you begin

  • Review subaccount types to confirm which type fits your customer's needs. See Subaccount types.

  • Subaccounts must be enabled for your account. Contact your DigiCert account manager if subaccounts are not available.

  • You must be signed in as an administrator. No other user role can create subaccounts.

  • For managed subaccounts, use the DigiCert API instead of this procedure. See Managed subaccounts.

Create a subaccount

  1. In the CertCentral main menu, go to Subaccounts.

  2. On the Subaccounts page, select Create subaccount.

    Nota

To let the customer create their own account, send an invitation instead. See Send subaccount invitations. Subaccounts added via invitation are automatically set to self-billing with default pricing. Configure billing and pricing settings before sending an invitation if customisation is needed.

  3. On the Create subaccount page, complete the following:

    • Subaccount type: select a type. See for descriptions of each type. Once created, contact your account manager to change the type.

    • Account manager (optional): select a CertCentral user to manage this subaccount. By default, all administrators in your account can manage all subaccounts.

    • Allow this subaccount to create subaccounts: select if you want this subaccount to be able to create and manage its own subaccounts.

    • Subaccount contact: enter the contact information for the user this subaccount is registered to.

    • Organization details: enter the organization information for this subaccount.

    • Product billing: select how orders placed by this subaccount are billed

      • Bill subaccount: orders are invoiced to and paid for by the subaccount.

      • Bill your account: orders are invoiced to and paid for by your parent account.

    • Currency: select the subaccount's preferred currency for displaying pricing. The parent account is still billed in its own currency.

    • Product pricing: select Use default pricing to apply standard CertCentral pricing, or select Customize pricing to set unique pricing per product.

    • Products: select which products are available to this subaccount.

  4. Select Save.

DigiCert sends the subaccount contact an email with the subject DigiCert User Account Created — Action Required containing a link and instructions for setting up their account credentials.

Notice

If your CertCentral Partner account uses the DigiCert single sign-on experience, DigiCert also sends a second email with the subject [Action required] Welcome to DigiCert account with a link for signing in to their DigiCert account. The subaccount contact then uses DigiCert account to add and assign users to CertCentral. See User management tasks: CertCentral versus DigiCert account.

Manage your subaccounts

On the Subaccounts page, manage all your subaccounts. Select an organization name to update subaccount details, change billing settings, product pricing, and product availability.

To view orders placed by your subaccounts, in the CertCentral main menu, go to Subaccounts > Orders.
