[en] CertCentral allows you to customize your DCV method user experience as follows:

  • [en] Configure the DCV methods to appear in the DCV methods menu when domain control validation is required.

  • [en] Set the default DCV method when multiple DCV methods are available.

  • [en] Hide the Domain control validation (DCV) menu on all TLS certificate request forms.

[en] The domain control validation menu appears in the domain validation and TLS certificate workflows:

  • [en] Domain validation workflow

    • [en] New domain page

    • [en] Domain details pages

  • [en] TLS certificate workflow

    • [en] Request forms, new, reissue, and renewal

    • [en] Pending order details pages

[en] Configure your domain control validation method settings

  1. [en] In your CertCentral account, go to Settings > Preferences.

  2. [en] On the Preferences page, expand Advanced Settings.

  3. [en] In the Domain Control Validation (DCV) section, under DCV Methods, do the following as required to meet the needs of your situation:

    1. [en] DCV methods

      • [en] Verification Email

        [en] To demonstrate control over the domain, an email recipient follows the instructions in a confirmation email sent for the domain. DigiCert sends three sets of DCV emails: WHOIS-based, constructed, and DNS TXT-based.

      • [en] DNS TXT Record

        [en] Demonstrate control over a domain by adding the DigiCert-generated random value to the domain’s DNS as a TXT record.

      • [en] DNS CNAME Record

        [en] Demonstrate control over a domain by adding the DigiCert-generated random value to the domain’s DNS as a CNAME record.

      • [en] HTTP Practical Demonstration

        [en] Demonstrate control over a domain, by hosting a file containing a DigiCert-generated random value at a predetermined location on your website.

      • [en] HTTP Practical Demonstration with unique file name

        [en] Demonstrate control over a domain by hosting a file with a random filename that contains a DigiCert-generated random value at a predetermined location on your website.

    2. [en] Set default DCV method

      [en] In the menu, select the DCV method you want selected by default when multiple methods are available.

    3. [en] Hide domain control validation (DCV) methods on the TLS certificate request forms: new, reissues, and renewals

      [en] Select this option to hide the Domain control validation (DCV) methods menu on TLS certificate request forms.

      [en] The option does not apply to pending order details pages or the domain validation workflow mentioned at the beginning of the instructions.

  4. [en] Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save Settings.
