Secure Email Certificates

DigiCert offers three types of Secure Email Certificates to sign and encrypt your emails. Signing validates your emails as coming from you, while encryption protects sensitive email data.

  • Secure Email for Individual

The industry refers to this type of S/MIME certificate as a mailbox-validated email certificate because we only validate the email addresses included on the certificate.

With the Secure Email for Individual certificate, secure emails on your own domains and from public email service providers such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Hotmail, and MSN.

  • Secure Email for Organization

The industry refers to this type of S/MIME certificate as an organization-validated email certificate because we validate the organization.

With the Secure Email for Organization certificate, secure emails for your organization on your own domains. Like TLS certificates, you must demonstrate control over these domains.

  • Secure Email for Business

The industry refers to this type of S/MIME certificate as a sponsor-validated email certificate because the organization attests that the individual is a valid employee or company representative.

With the Secure Email for Business certificate, secure emails for individuals in your organization on your own domains. Like TLS certificates, you must demonstrate control over these domains.
