Users

There are two core concepts that is important to understand: user types and user roles. User types determines access of the user, while the user role assigned to a user determine the specific actions they can perform.

There are three types of DigiCert ONE users:

  • User (AS)

A standard user with access to a specific account. Users can sign in to the platform with their credentials and connect to client tools and APIs using their API key and client authentication certificate.

  • Service user (AS)

Designed for automated workflows, service users also have access to a specific account but cannot sign into the platform. They authenticate with client tools and APIs using their API key and client certificate, typically on build servers or other automated systems.

  • System user (SS)

A system-wide user type reserved for DigiCert employees who manage customer accounts. System users have access to the entire platform and all accounts. In on-premise deployments, this user type may include authorized external users.
