Update DNS records when DigiCert hosts your files
When you buy a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC), you can choose between hosting your logo image (.svg) and your certificate (.pem) yourself, or allowing DigiCert to host them.
Here's how to update your Domain Name System (DNS) records when you have chosen to let DigiCert host your files.
Obtain your logo and certificate URLs
In CertCentral, in the left-hand menu, go to Certificates > Orders.
Select the order number for your Verified Mark Certificate.
On the order details page, scroll down to Logo and certificate settings.
Select Display the URLs for hosted files.
You will now see the URLs for your logo and certificate. Copy these URLs to use in your DNS record.
Repeat this process for all domains on the certificate.
Add a DNS TXT record for a single logo
Go to your DNS provider’s site and create a new TXT record.
In the record type field (or equivalent), select TXT.
In the Host field, enter
default._bimi.[yourdomain.com]
, substituting your domain name for the bold text.In the Value field, enter
v=BIMI1;l=[URL of your logo];a=[url of your certificate]
, substituting the logo and certificate URLs you copied from CertCentral. In the TTL field, enter 1 hour or 3600 seconds (depending what values your DNS provider accepts).
Save the new record to your domain.
Wait at least 48 hours for the new record to propagate through the DNS system.
