Turn on automatic certificate renewals

When you turn on automatic certificate renewals, DigiCert automatically submits a request to renew the certificate order thirty days before your order expires.

Note: DigiCert Document Signing certificates don’t include an auto-renew option.

Before you begin

The automatic renewal feature is disabled for certificate orders bought with a credit card. Certificates installed on hardware tokens don’t support automatic renewals.

Why don’t I see the Auto-renew option?

The option may be turned off for the product. On the Product Settings page, administrators can turn this feature off for a product. In CertCentral, in the left menu, go to Settings > Product Settings, select the certificate, and see if the feature was disabled.

Turn on automatic renewals

  1. In CertCentral, in the left menu, go to Certificates > Orders.

  2. On the Orders page, in the Order # column, select the order number of the certificate for which you’re turning on (enabling) automatic renewals.

  3. On the certificate’s Order details page, to the right of Order validity, use the toggle to turn Auto-renew to the On position.

What’s next

Each time the certificate order reaches thirty days before expiration, DigiCert automatically submits a request to renew the certificate order.
