Update an organization’s details in CertCentral
What you need to know about updating an organization's details
Changing the details of a validated organization invalidates all current validations for that organization. This action can't be undone.
DigiCert must validate the "updated/new" organization before issuing certificates for it. Make sure you understand and accept what happens if you change an organization's details.
Add a new organization instead
Changing an organization's details isn’t always the best option. There are situations where it might be better to add a new organization instead.
We recommend adding a new organization, in these situations:
Changing the organization to a new organization.
Changing the assumed name (doing business as name).
Don't want to invalidate current organization validation.
Before you begin
If you change the organization’s details, you remove the old organization and create a new one. The organization ID doesn't change, just the organization information. This change cancels all current organization validation, such as OV-Normal Organization Validation and EV-Extended Organization Validation (EV).
Important
DigiCert can't issue certificates for this "updated/new" organization until we validate the new organization details.
What happens to existing certificates issued for the organization?
The following certificate-related events for the organization are delayed until DigiCert validates the "updated/new" organization:
Pending certificate issuances
Immediate certificate issuances
Certificate reissues
Duplicate issues
Renewals

Warning
Changing the details of a validated organization invalidates all current validations for that organization. This action can't be undone.
In the Edit organization confirmation window, select Confirm.
What's next
To make the organization change as seamless as possible, immediately submit the "new" organization for validation. Once we've validated the added details, we can issue certificates for it again.
For an organization with pending validations, the pending status doesn’t change. We still validate the organization for the selected validation types, such as OV-Organization Validation. However, the validation agent must restart the organization validation process.
