Troubleshoot

When encountering issues in DigiCert® Device Trust Manager, the built-in audit and device logging services are essential tools for diagnosing and resolving problems.

Use audit logs for system troubleshooting

Device Trust Manager’s audit logging service records key operational activities and can help identify the root cause of issues. Audit logs include:

  • Successful changes made within the system

  • Authentication details and access events

  • Error messages and handling information

Review these logs as an initial step to better understand what might have led to system errors or unexpected behavior.

Use device logs for activity tracking

  • Device state changes: Track the progression of devices through states, such as:

    • End States: Registered, Provisioned, Deleted

    • Intermediary State: Provisioning

    • Operational States: Available, Disabled

  • Connection states: View timestamps for when devices connect and disconnect.

  • Deployment status changes: Monitor the progress and outcomes of deployments, including statuses like:

    • Successful, Failed, Canceled

    • Pending, Downloading, Downloaded

    • Installing, Retrying, Rebooting

  • Authentication failures: Identify issues related to device authentication attempts.

These logs offer comprehensive information for troubleshooting device-related issues and ensuring seamless operation in Device Trust Manager.
