Enable a client authentication certificate for a service user

If a client authentication certificate was previously disabled, the service user will be blocked from API communication. Enabling the certificate restores API access and allows the service user to authenticate again.

You may want to enable a client authentication certificate if:

  • The certificate was disabled temporarily for security or maintenance.

  • API integrations need to be restored after being blocked.

  • The service user requires access again after an account update.

Tip

Some API integrations may require you to restart services or update configurations to recognize the re-enabled certificate.

You can disable the client authentication certificate at a later stage, if you choose.

To enable a client authenticate certificate

  1. Sign in to DigiCert ONE.

  2. Navigate to the Manager menu icon (top-right), select Account.

  3. In the left navigation menu, select Access > Service users.

  4. In the Friendly name column, select the service user's friendly name.

This takes you to your service user details page.

  5. Scroll down to the Authentication certificates section.

  6. Locate the tile with the certificate that you want to enable.

  7. In the top-right corner of the tile, select ⁝ > Enable.

The certificate is now active. The service user can authenticate and communicate with the API again.

This takes you to the list of service users in your account.
