Microsoft Windows: Install a sensor
Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and Server 2012 and 2016.
Before you begin
Verify you've met all the network requirements.
Verify you've met all the deployment requirements.
Verify your Microsoft system meets all the hardware and software requirements.
You have experience working with your Microsoft Windows operating system.
You have admin permissions to install the sensor.
You have the necessary permissions in CertCentral.

Install sensor
Download the sensor from your CertCentral account
In your CertCentral account, in the left main menu, go to Discovery > Manage Discovery.
On the Manage scans page, select Add sensor.
On the Set up a sensor page, under step 1 Download a discovery sensor in the Windows section, select Download.

Save the
sensor_{{version number}}_win64.zip
file to your computer. Make sure to note the location.Extract the contents of the zip file so you can run the executable file (.exe).
Install the sensor
On your Windows machine, run the installer executable file as an administrator.
Right click on the sensor .exe file and select Run as administrator.
The DigiCert Sensor Setup wizard checks your Windows computer, verifying that it meets the minimum requirements.
After you accept the End-User license agreement terms and select an installation folder, the wizard installs the sensor as a Windows service.
By default, the wizard installs the sensor in
C:\Program Files\DigiCert\
.

Sensor activation noteYou can activate the sensor now or later. However, you must activate the sensor before you can set up a scan with it. If you choose to activate the sensor later, see Microsoft Windows: Activate or start a sensor.
Activate and start the sensor
Now that the sensor is installed on your Windows computer, activate and restart it. DigiCert recommends using the wizard to activate and start the sensor.
In the DigiCert Sensor Setup wizard, check Activate DigiCert Sensor and select Finish.
On the Activate DigiCert Sensor page, select CertCentral, enter your CertCentral credentials (username and password), and select Connect.
Once authenticated, the wizard retrieves the divisions you have access to. If you don't have divisions, the wizard retrieves the name of the organization for your account.
If you have divisions in your account, in the Divisions dropdown, select the division you want to assign the sensor to.
Finally, in the Sensor name box, enter a name. Select Next.

Select Start DigiCert Sensor.
Select Finish.
